When a section has to carry a given cut or fill area, Dynamic Area Adjustment moves a layer, or the layer it is measured against, in small steps until the area is reached. Pin the points that must not move. Offsets stay exactly as surveyed.

Adjust to a target, on a real chainage

How it works
In the app, step by step
- 01
Open Dynamic Adjust
On the section screen, open Dynamic Adjust from the Area group.
Section › Area › Dynamic Adjust - 02
Pick the layer
Choose the series to adjust, Series 2 to 5. Its current cut, fill and net area are shown.
Series To Adjust - 03
Set the target
Type the desired cut area or the desired fill area. If both are filled in, cut is used.
Desired Cut · Desired Fill - 04
Choose the step and what moves
Set the increment (default 0.025, must be more than zero). Move the layer itself, or move the layer it is measured against, such as NSL.
Increment · Series · Base series - 05
Hold points
On the Advanced tab, tick Constant on any point that must stay where it is.
Advanced › Constant - 06
Adjust
All other points move up or down by the increment, the area is recalculated, and it repeats until the target is crossed. The direction is worked out for you. The result goes straight back into the section grids.

Common questions
Does it change offsets?
No. Only levels move, in steps of the increment you set.
Can some points stay fixed?
Yes. Tick Constant on those points on the Advanced tab and they are never moved.
Which layer moves?
You choose: the layer you are adjusting, or the layer it is measured against, such as the natural surface.
Is it per chainage or for the whole route?
Dynamic Area Adjustment works on the cross-section in front of you. Step to the next chainage and run it again where needed.
